The “Development of a Roll-to-Roll High-Speed Laser Microfabrication Machine for Through-Hole Anode and Cathode Fabrication of Lithium-Ion Batteries” uses a laser + roll-to-roll device capable of forming through holes in thin electrodes at a rate of 100,000 per second.
The positive electrode of lithium iron phosphate and the negative electrode of graphite with that device, demonstrated higher rate characteristics than the unprocessed cathode and anode.
