An improved pre-lithiation of graphite anodes using through-holed cathode and anode electrodes in a laminated lithium ion battery
To actually compensate for the "irreversible capacity (i.e., active lithium loss)" normally observed in the first charge/discharge cycle of lithium-ion batteries (LIB), for example, caused by solid electrolyte intermediate phase (SEI) formation, so-called pre-lithiumization was applied to graphite anodes in laminated cells composed of three graphite negative electrodes and three LFP (lithium iron phosphate) positive electrodes.
